Letter calls for discrimination

For a second time in the letters section, (Dec. 1, 2014, and Nov. 24) Gary Jensen, pastor, has called for discrimination against transgender children. That seems obsessive and un-Christ-like.

Starting with his twisted misreading of a Department of Education decision, Jensen fantasizes that boys and girls will be showering and relieving themselves together if transgender kids are allowed to choose facilities. Either that, he says, or taxes will increase to pay for separate facilities. But one has only to look at the individual stalls standard to school bathrooms and shower areas to know privacy is available for and from transgender students. Not only that, shower areas are already monitored for potential homosexual and violent or dangerous activity. So, contrary to Jensen’s claptrap, there is no extra expense or tax increase for transgender friendly schools.

Jensen seems purposely ignorant of existing school standards, policies and acceptable practices. He could have visited public schools to check facts with his own eyes, but chose to intimate perverted fantasies instead. Such behavior by a self-identified pastor reflects badly on Christian leaders in general — particularly as none has written to defend transgender children against Jensen’s calls for discrimination.
