Sound Transit appears to be trying to be all things to all people. Time is running out as to whether or not voters should accept or reject Proposition 1. Despite the full page ads in local newspapers and the media blitz on TV, Sound Transit claims as to the merits of this proposition are dubious at best. Voters should reject this proposition as written and demand that Sound Transit complete the the original spine of light rail, that is, complete the section to Everett before branching out in other directions.
Instead of meandering along Paine Field drive straight up I-5 with a station built on the area to the north of the existing park-and-ride at 112th Street. A shuttle line along Highway 526 to Boeing and Paine Field with a bay allowing cross platform transfer to northbound or southbound trains. This change would allow service to Everett 10 years before the Proposition 1 completion date. Seniors who have just been notified of their one dollar a day raise next year should carefully consider whether they can afford this proposition.
