As a business owner who has a business on 36th Avenue W. in Lynnwood, I feel compelled to respond to the Tuesday front page article about the city of Lynnwood red light camera lawsuit. (“Claim: Lynnwood red-light camera enforcement violates law.”)
I have driven through the intersection of 196th and 36th twice a day for 22 years. Before the red light cameras were installed, there were multiple times I witnessed fender benders, blocking of the intersection and countless yellow/red light runners.
Ever since the cameras were installed, the safety of that intersection has greatly improved.
Those of us who use that intersection every day don’t need an annual report to know that the cameras work to reduce collisions.
Thank you, city of Lynnwood. Keep up the good work.
