I have to respond to Ms. Paxton’s letter about gun control and respect for the law. (Friday, “Why not protest cars, which kill more than guns?”) I was so glad to see a letter concerning those who commit the shooting crimes, as opposed to the weapons themselves. There are always going to be disappointments in life, and children need to be taught how to deal with them in a rational and adult way, not turn everything bad that happens to them into some emotional trauma that can only be solved in a some dramatic and inappropriate way. If only one of the partygoers had had a gun for defense, there may have been less deaths.
