I was offended by a letter to the editor by Martin Frankland, that accused Herald writer Andrea Brown of making racist comments in her Dec. 11 article on Riaz Khan being elected to the all-white Mukilteo City Council.
Once again here we have an “over the top partisan” getting their pants in a twist of over an apparently inadvertent statement! I knew what Andrea Brown was trying to convey and was not offended in the least. Perhaps she could have chosen her words more carefully, however, stating the obvious that a historically all white council mostly of European heritage now has a member from a different part of the world was quite factual and not biased in my humble opinion.
It’s the narrow-minded opinion of people like Mr. Frankland who take offense at the most minor and unintended comments that have taken this country to its current fractious divide.
