I find it curious that in a article published last week, “Ballots with insufficient postage will be counted,” Secretary of State Kim Wyman “embraces” postage free ballots and yet, here we are four years after she took office, and we still must pay for postage statewide. Wyman’s failure to level the playing field for voters in Washington is a disservice to us all.
Postage free ballots are a critical step forward to ensure every voter has equal access to casting their ballot. Under Kim Wyman’s watch Washington has failed to make any progress to protect the voting rights of the most vulnerable people in our communities. And frankly, Wyman’s sudden “embrace” is too little and far too late.
