A recent letter to The Herald chastises “a childlike attack on President Trump by comparing him to Sen. John McCain” in which “their entirely different personalities and methods of accomplishing goals” is ignored. The point is well taken.
Sen. McCain has never been widely described as ill-tempered, mean-spirited, vulgar, childish or uninformed. He has never been described in general as cruel, greedy, exploitative, mendacious or shady. He was never broadly characterized as narcissistic, double-dealing, undisciplined, greedy or amoral.
Whether his policies and positions were supported or criticized, in the final analysis no honest person thought John McCain was committed to anything other than the cause of our country as one nation, indivisible.
