I have known Jesse Quincy for over 20 years and am appalled by the statements made by Tuesday’s letter writer who speaks without fact or knowledge of what happened the night Jesse Quincy was killed or who Jesse Quincy was as a person.
First, let’s start with who Jesse really was. He was a caring person and a loving father of two. He had a loving family and great number of friends. If you met Jesse you could not help but like him. He did, however, make really stupid decisions on a much too often basis. He was not violent or aggressive as the letter writer would like you to believe.
Second, let’s look at what happened the night Jesse was murdered by a “20-year veteran” police officer. Jesse was in a stolen truck with mismatched plates but he was not the one car prowling. Jesse was trying to play “hero” and save his friend from getting caught car prowling. Jesse did know where his friend was and what they where doing and decided to go and “get them out before they got caught.” Perhaps the letter writer should stick to things he knows about and leave the real world stuff to the rest of us. The one really bad thing Jesse did the night he was killed was being a young African-American in a Mill Creek community after dark.
Those of us who knew Jesse loved him even though we didn’t always agree with what he did. I hope Jesse’s mother never has to read these negative statements about her son.
