Letter’s criticism of Democrats, liberals make no sense

This is in regard to a March 25 letter to the editor regarding Democrats and liberals:

Fearing that the Democrats, or maybe he means Democratic Socialists, will turn the country into a third-rate socialist state akin to Hitler’s Germany, Stalin’s Russia, Mao’s China and Castro’s Cuba doesn’t make sense.

Social Democracy supports a capitalist framework and a competitive economy, with people having a say in government actions. It emphasis equal rights for everyone and believes the government should provide essential services to the public, such as health care and education.

Hitler’s Germany practiced Nazism. Nazism was racist and anti-Semitic. The Nazis ruled as a one-party, totalitarian dictatorship. Hitler was an anti-socialist, and socialists were among the earliest victims of the Nazis.

Stalin’s Russia was Communist, Mao’s China was Communist, and Castro’s Cuba was Communist.

None of these resemble the ideals of a social democracy.

The author further implies that all news sources are one-sided left-wing brainwashing propaganda, with, of course, the exception of Fox News. However inconvenient to his narrative, I would encourage him to do his own independent research of facts, using fact-based content, rather than rely on any one-sided brainwashing propaganda “news” programming, including Fox news.
