I am writing to urge your support of the Mukilteo School District’s levies on the Feb. 5 ballot. Few things are as important to our community as the education of our children.
Without raising the tax rate for at least the next four years, the school support replacement levy will provide more than 17 percent of the funds used to educate Mukilteo children. It pays for additional teachers, more teacher aides, all student activities, and all sports programs.
In today’s society, technology is now a mandatory consideration when it comes to educating children. The capital projects levy will improve and maintain the infrastructure that is so vital to keep technology working. It also will help to maintain the buildings that our children learn in.
The proposals put together by the school district will do these things without raising the property tax rates. So, there’s no reason not to support the school levies. It will provide our community with tremendous benefits, yet will cost no additional money. That’s why I urge all voters in the school district to vote yes for schools on Feb. 5.
