I am a para-educator at Snohomish High School and feel it is time to put in my two-cents worth about the upcoming levy election. April 23 is a very important day for Snohomish School District. This election is critical. The first attempt in February failed by only a few dozen votes.
As a staff member of Snohomish High School, I am very aware of what will happen to our school if the levy fails. We already have overcrowded classes, outdated textbooks and worn-out equipment. Despite these problems, our dedicated teachers give their all to provide the best learning environment possible for our students. A levy failure will create a tremendous level of stress as we will be forced to cut back even further on supplies, programs and staff. If you just forgot to vote last time, please don’t forget this time. If you voted no last time, remember that the best way to invest in your future is to see that today’s youth are well-educated. If you think paying a few hundred dollars a year for public education is too expensive, just check out the private schools’ tuition. You’ll find that public schools are a bargain!
