Hold the mayo: A study of 10 chain restaurants showed that calories for a number of food items were higher than what was listed on menus. The difference wasn’t necessarily intentional, the researchers said, and could be the result of, say, a teenage food handler putting too much mayonnaise on a sandwich.
Just to put this in perspective, our concern about what teenage food handlers are putting on our sandwich isn’t limited to too much mayo.
Remember to smile, Dad: Customers will have to bring their own bags to Wal-Mart stores in three California cities or pay 15 cents apiece to buy a reuseable bag, the big-box chain has announced.
If the practice can be successfully expanded nationwide, the retailer could look at other cost-saving measures, including asking customers to bring their own senior citizen greeter to welcome them to Wal-Mart.
What about ferrets? A new Associated Press poll reveals distinct preferences among dog and cat people: 74 percent like dogs a lot, while 41 percent like cats a lot.
Told of the results, 86 percent of cats stared into space until they heard a distant can opener, while 93 percent of dogs cocked their heads to the side and switched their glance from their master to the tennis ball repeatedly.
