Regarding the Tuesday article “I-5 project riles neightbors”: As a real estate appraiser who lives in the Lowell neighborhood, I’ve been saddened by the reality of the I-5 project. There is no way to compensate the residents of South 4th Avenue between 43rd Street and 46th Street for the loss in market value and marketability of their homes. I think little to no consideration was given to the residents most directly impacted by the project when the design was finalized. No sound wall can fix the impact of a freeway at eye-level. Those homes once had a view of trees. Now they’ll have cars and passers-by looking in their windows as they speed off to their Broadway-bound destinations.
Sad. Sad.
