I was furious at the blatant falsehoods opined in the Sept. 3 letter, “Democrats have also crossed line”; then I started laughing because it is so ludicrous!
I have volunteered at the Democratic (not Democrat…) Party booths at the Evergreen State Fair, Kla-Ha-Ya Days and AquaFest, and niether I, nor any Democrat, would allow anything the writer suggested. The Democratic Party is the party of hope and change. Perhaps the writer was confusing our stickers with media reports of warrantless wiretaps, extraordinary rendition, sending police to spy on citizens groups and rigged elections with similar reports from Stalinist Russia or Nazi Germany. When these things happen in America, his cries of righteous indignation fall flat.
The writer obviously has never read any of the literature Democrats sell at these events, but I would be happy to send him a selection of stickers, including my favorite: “I didn’t leave the Republican Party, it lost its mind!”
As for the claim of intimidation, when I was a Republican I was always told Democrats were wimpy liberals. Does that mean we’re not anymore? Sure, we have lots of veterans (like myself), farmers, hockey moms and big, scary blue-collar folks joining every day to protect their financial future and nation. All these folks are getting active despite all the Republican talk radio stations telling them how hopeless our cause is.
I’d respectfully suggest the author to be more concerned with bored kids messing with their property than Democratic “activists” stealing your bumper stickers.
As for the “Obamanation” bills, all I can say is this: They are protected under the First Amendment (then again — so is porn). The poor souls who condone them have more issues than this letter can address.
