Your July 15 article: “Mobile home parks to stay,” gave the impression that all our worries are over and it is a done deal. It is not so, we are still working hard in reaching out to get support to assist the Housing Authority of Snohomish County in obtaining funding much needed to have us continue living here in our mobile homes.
We have plenty of hopes this could happen because our local leadership and other political supporters, both cities and the county, demonstrated their strong support and compassion to us seniors. The city of Lynnwood’s mayor and council, the Snohomish County executive and County Council, and the Housing Authority of Snohomish County orchestrated efforts that reached out through all corners of the state of Washington.
Our situation is unique indeed because we demonstrated that by not being scattered everywhere, we will continue to live independently and these two parks will be an addition to senior housing in perpetuity. Not being plucked away from social and health services and our children is a big thing. It would cost the taxpayers more money to place all of us in subsidized housing and home care. The Snohomish County leadership is to be commended for showing strong leadership during this time of rapid growth in our cities.
