Many thanks to everyone who supported the replacement of Monroe Public Schools’ Student Program and Operations Levy and the bond proposal. More than 200 volunteers performed countless tasks to help ensure our community understood the importance of local support for a quality pubic education. In Monroe we are lucky to have the support of Citizens for Monroe Public Schools. Members of this group worked tirelessly to ensure our student’s have ample opportunity to be successful.
Of course, we are disappointed that the bond request is not expected to reach the 60 percent supermajority. We felt each of the three projects in the proposal were vital. Election results are expected to be finalized on Feb. 15. School board members will then have the task to determine our next steps. We would appreciate hearing from more community members about the proposed projects. What are your neighbors saying? What should the public schools do next to provide quality learning environments for all kids? Please email your ideas or comments to schoolboard@monroe.wednet.edu.
Quality public schools require a supportive community. We in Monroe are fortunate to be in such a community. The partnership of schools, students, families and our community is vital to our mission of successfully educating Monroe’s next generation of leaders. All of us in the public school system sincerely appreciate your support and look forward to your continued involvement in our schools.
