Monroe voters should mark their calendars. We must pass the “learning” levy on April 27. We need a 60 percent yes vote and we fell just 28 votes short on March 9. Please remember to vote at the polls or via absentee ballot. Every vote in important. This is not a new levy – it is a replacement for one that will expire.
Nearly 17 percent of our school’s revenue comes from our local tax dollars. This money is used to purchase textbooks and supplies, for instructing students in the arts and music, offering athletic programs, field trips and after-school activities and attracting and keeping quality teachers.
If this levy fails ,the children of Monroe Public Schools face an $8.8 million budget cut. The programs I mentioned above would be cut. This would be a disaster for the success of our schools and our children. Please vote yes on April 27.
