Many times in the past three years I, along with my dog, have walked the perimeter path at Scriber Lake in Lynnwood. It’s a wonderful city park that sits along one of the busiest streets in the state. I have spotted beaver, turtles, herons and many other bird species. The path and surrounding growth are well maintained. The pontoon walkway over the lake has benches that have been attended by birdwatchers, people eating their lunch and an occasional youngster with a fishing pole.
Just about every time I’ve visited the park individual men are loitering around the restrooms which are located at the entrance to the park.
Individual men also sit idly in their vehicles in the parking lot that is adjacent to the restrooms. I have counted up to seven vehicles with a single man in each vehicle sitting in them at one time. These men are there when I arrive at the park and when I leave which is usually up to an hour.
It would be hard to believe that the maintenance workers haven’t notified the Lynnwood Parks Department and that Lynnwood’s “finest” are unaware of the problem and haven’t been monitoring it.
Until the City of Lynnwood makes some changes in the park or enforces park policy, I’ll have to find another park that isn’t so spooky and doesn’t have kidnappings.
