After reading the three-page Boeing ad in the Tuesday Herald, all I can say is, “Wow!” Boeing is truly a master of shiny picture propaganda and knows how to polish the old apple. We should all be down on our knees in awe and grateful worship for their noble and caring benevolence.
And folks, just ignore the worms in the Washington apple they are polishing with so much expertise and enthusiasm. Worms such as no funds for court-ordered school funding for our children who are in the fifth largest classes in the nation. Worms such as inadequate funds to fix crumbling roads and no support for transit options for the rest of us. And scant funds to combat the epidemic of heroin addiction and related gang activity decimating our communities, to name just three. Their CEO’s compensation package alone would take care of a huge portion of our school funding needs, so we know what is really important.
The billions Boeing, and other corporations gets in tax incentives are directly connected to these funding problems, thanks to our state, mostly Republican legislators. This is the much revered trickle-down-economics at its finest. Let’s see Boeing polish that apple in a three-page ad. Herald, how about a three-page propaganda counterpoint? Drip. Drip. Drip.
