In July, I volunteered to help John Lovick pass out fliers for his re-election to the state House of Representatives, 44th District. For several hours on that very hot day, I knocked on doors and spoke to voters. While this is routine for many who work on campaigns, it was new to me, to work for a Democrat.
Until recently, I have voted as a conservative Republican. For many reasons, I am now an independent, backing the person, not the party.
I support Lovick because he is responsive to the people he represents. Not only is John very accessible, he listens to the issues and takes action. I have experienced the opposite by some of my state and federal representatives, from both parties. John’s responsiveness is welcome and refreshing. But then, isn’t this what our elected officials are supposed to do?
