Over the past few weeks, local politicians have been visiting the senior government classes at Cascade High School to answer our questions and to find out what issues we are most concerned about. Two of the candidates who spoke were John Lovick and Irene Endicott, both running for the office of state representative for the 44th District. Mr. Lovick, our current representative, made a very good impression, however Mrs. Endicott appeared to be uninformed about the current issues.
While she was a very nice person, she seemed far from qualified for the office of state representative. John Lovick, the incumbent, who had previously visited us the week before, answered all our questions and was very informed about the current issues and the office he presently holds. He discussed his opinions, explained the actions he had already taken and proposed more solutions to the problems of our community. In comparison, Mrs. Endicott’s repeated responses seemed to be “I’ll look into it” and “I’ll ask the tough questions.”
I am sure the rest of the 44th District will agree with me, and my classmates, when I say I do not want a state representative who is not even sure what the responsibilities of office are.
