After serving 20 years in the military, as well as the past seven in the private sector, I have been exposed to a wide variety of leaders. Some effective, some inspiring, some extraordinary, and many who simply fail.
As I piece together the characteristics of the successful leaders I have served with and admired, there are a few common themes. Relationship oriented, humble, demonstrating servant leadership, inspiring communicator, transparent, principled, trustworthy. Snohomish County Sheriff candidate John Lovick personifies all of these characteristics. I’m not looking for an administrator, I want a top notch leader.
John’s resume is as distinguished as his character. Like it or not, the ability to navigate and influence the Legislature is an essential function of this position, as well as leading the department. As speaker Pro Tempore of the House, John has shown his ability to work with all levels (and parties) of government time and time again while crafting public policy, especially in the area of public safety. His three decades as a state trooper demonstrate his ability to understand what it’s like to be in the field.
These strengths will serve him, and our community, well. John Lovick is the leader of choice for Snohomish County Sheriff.
