I am writing to express my displeasure with a recent mailer I received from the Washington State Republican Party. It was a “slam” ad against state Senate candidate Fred Walser. The ad, in bold-face type, says, “Finally, we have a crooked politician running who we know is a crook ahead of time.”
What kind of message is this sending? To me, it says no candidate, even one favored by the WSRP, is straight. It states and endorses the fact that all candidates are crooked, only this time … one is actually honest about it!
To me, this is an ad for Fred Walser. Regardless of crookedness, which the WSRP acknowledges, he is straightforward aboout it. He doesn’t hide, and they advertise it. What does that say about their candidates?
Why would they send something as stupid and self harming as this statement?
