I’ve about had it with the minority who want to impose their views on the majority. What ever happened to “the majority rules”? The Ten Commandments controversy is just another case in what should never have become an issue at all. In the first place, if you don’t like something that is written and standing by the street, don’t read it! No one is forcing you to stop and read it. Walk by on the other side of the street.
We don’t expect you to live by the rules on the plaque, although you might be a better person if you did! And if you don’t want to listen to a prayer, leave until it is over.
In the second place, the Commandments are simply the codified rules that all civilizations live by. If you stop to think about them, not as commandments from God, but as rules to live by to get along with your neighbors, they make a lot of sense. Yes, some of them are religious, but if I lived in an atheist country I would respect their beliefs. The last time I checked, the majority of our country are Christians, with many Jewish people also. As I said, shouldn’t the majority rule?
It is time for the silent majority to be silent no more. We have rights, too. We should not allow one person to take away our rights to pray or to read the Ten Commandments where and when we want. A prophet of God long ago said that if the time came that the majority of the people choose the wrong way, it would be time for the land to be cleansed. I hope that the majority is still strong enough to choose the right way, and stand up for ourselves. Let the Ten Commandments stay where they are!
