Make Fourth of July spectacular again

I agree with the letter to the editor a couple of weeks ago concerning the City of Everett’s Fourth of July parade. Being a lifelong resident of Everett, I can remember every year we as a family would go to the Fourth of July parade downtown. My oldest brother was in band at Cascade High School and would march in the parade. You could always count on the pirates scraping their swords on the street and the motorcycle police riding in precision. You would be in anticipation of what was coming next!

This last year I was able to get all of my brothers together and their children and we made it a family affair to go to the parade that we all had such fond memories of. I have to say that it was embarrassing. I had talked up the parade to my niece and nephew and when it was over they were less than impressed. I was very disappointed.

Would it be possible to combine the two parades, Salty Sea Days and Fourth of July? Something, anything, to make the Fourth of July parade what it once was – spectacular.
