For 60 years the Everett Central Lions Club has been the proud sponsor of the Annual Fishing Derby for the Blind. Year after year volunteers from throughout the area have been instrumental in helping to make this a wonderful experience for the sight impaired.
Our sincere thanks go out to the volunteer skippers who donated their boats and time, especially members of the Everett Salmon and Steelhead Club and the Edmonds Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers.
This year’s participants had a great time and success in catching fish. The youngest fisherman was 10 years old. Everybody received prizes from local businesses including Jerry’s Surplus, Wal-Mart, Shawn O’Donnell’s and Verizon. The Cobbler Kitchen provided a delicious lunch. Special thanks go to members of Scout Troop 120 and Milltown Sailing Association. The Everett Central Lions Club says thank you to all who helped make this a memorable experience. We can’t wait till next year’s 61st derby.
