On Oct. 27, the Cascade High School Band &Color Guard Boosters hosted the 14th Annual Puget Sound Festival of Bands. This annual marching band competition featured 25 high school bands from Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
One of the largest interscholastic events in the state, it provided the chance for over 2,500 students to compete and showcase their talents. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to demonstrate the great things public education is doing for our children.
We would like to thank the many Everett businesses that helped make our event successful. Special thanks go to the Everett Eagles and Aquasox for providing parking space for the buses that transported the bands. The Everett School District did a great job providing facilities and assistance at Everett Memorial Stadium, and also in helping to house several bands. AT&T Broadband graciously videotaped the evening program, and will be showing it later this month. The Herald was kind enough to provide great coverage of our event. The city of Everett helped by closing a few streets to through traffic, making it safer for all the students participating, and the city Parks Department loaned some much-needed equipment.
We would like to say a special thanks to the many residents who live near Everett Memorial Stadium. Even though they may have been inconvenienced by the road closures, or overwhelmed by high school marching bands practicing right outside their living room windows, we heard numerous comments from the residents about how much they enjoyed listening to the bands and watching them practice.
We feel very strongly that this is an important event and a wonderful educational opportunity for all our children. We sincerely thank all those who helped make it a resounding success. We hope to see you in the stands next year!
