Politics was the factor that led to the recent rollover by the Democratic-led Congress as Karl’s Kids convinced them that supporting the war was the equivalent of supporting the troops. After all, General Betrayus says we can win this thing …
This “logic” leads to supporting the deaths and maiming of thousands of our soldiers each year, simply because those losses line the pockets of Cheney’s corporate pals.
There are about 500 members in the Senate and House. The Dems claim that in September they will “get tough” if George’s surge is lagging. During the next three months, every day an average of three soldiers will be killed and 12 will be wounded. Consider 270 dead and 1,080 wounded, all while Congress fiddles for campaign funds.
It’s hard for Congress to make the tough decisions when they “have no dog in the race.” I wonder how long it would take them to stop the war in Iraq (not the war on “terra”) if we let them participate in it?
Let’s add a dog for Congress.
In Iraq we have a ratio of 300 troops per Congressman, so at random points during the next 90 days they can draw beans to select one Congressman to be killed and four Congressmen to be seriously maimed in explosions. If it’s good enough for our troops, it’s good enough for “our representatives.”
The good news is that the remainder will get a big handout from the K Street gang, and a free case of Chevron (kickbacks to Saddam) motor oil. Show the drawings on C-Span.
