We so get the government we deserve. Every voter should be required to sit in on a County Council hearing to get a glimpse firsthand of the difficulty our representatives must traverse because of the vagueness and interpretation of the county code. The proposed Rural Cluster Development of Quinn’s Crossing is an example of their having to make decisions based on hypothetical models and no specific data as to the danger of pollution to the wetlands this development would surround.
These developers are not required to have hydrology testing and the county does not have an hydrologist! Why not? Probably a budget concern. It seems the headwaters for Cross Valley Water and the headwaters of Bear Creek are supposedly going to be protected by a monitoring well that no one knows who will build or maintain and what will be done if they find contaminants down the road. It is asinine to for the County Council to approve such a project until these questions have answers.
