Perhaps if the Republican talking heads and politicians understood percentages a little better they would know why a manual recount is necessary in the governor’s race. Or is it possible that they want their candidate to win at any cost, including not knowing the true results of the election?
Now try to understand, the general consensus is that machine counts have a margin of error of 1 to 2 percent. One percent of the roughly 2.8 million votes cast is 28,000 votes. With a difference in the machine recount of less than 50 votes can you really be sure we know the true winner? The margin of error in the machine recount is close to 1,000 times greater than the current margin of “victory” in this race. Doesn’t this fact cause you to wonder who the real winner is? What would the Republican talking heads and politicians be demanding if the current machine recount showed Rossi losing by less than 50 votes?
Besides, if you take the time to look at state law, you will find that under the current circumstances, either party is well within their rights to have a hand recount. Remember, patience is a virtue.
