Let me get this straight: The new UW campus is to benefit students living in north Snohomish, Island and Skagit counties, and the decision makers truly believe that a site in downtown Everett with limited acreage is a better choice than the Marysville site? A better choice than the Marysville site with its almost unlimited growth potential for the future addition of classrooms, play fields, labs and so on? If you believe that, I have a bridge I’d like to sell!
The traffic to and from Everett is horrible almost any time of the day and night. I rarely go to Everett any more to shop or for anything else. The last thing a young student would want to do is to drive from Whidbey Island or North Skagit County all the way to Everett to attend college. The cost in gasoline alone would be enough to encourage them to look elsewhere for their education.
