Just a comment on the Friday letter concerning Canada’s recovery. The writer is correct, things seem to be fine in Canada. What the writer failed to mention is that even though their corporate tax rate may be low
, the overall tax rate in Canada is very high. Their tax freedom day is toward the end of June. That’s almost 50 percent.
Granted, things are going well. A point to ponder is — high taxes and a good recovery, versus (ours) low taxes and a slow recovery. We are one of the lowest-taxed countries in the world. Does that mean that tax cuts do not work? Another point to ponder — maybe Socialism does work? Oh, and don’t forget their $5-plus a gallon for gas.
