My wife, daughter and I recently moved to Everett. We have found it a great city. I have been very impressed by the far-sightedness of the city council and feel this city is poised for good things.
Mayor Ray Stephanson looks poised to join this progressive legacy as long a he stays away from bone-head moves like dipping into the city’s surplus. He was not only right when he said during his campaign, “We need to control expenses now …” but it looks really bad to act in direct opposition to a central campaign issue of just a few months ago. This sort of action does not instill trust. I urge Mayor Stephanson to not make spurious promises and to not so easily start chipping away at our future.
