I’m not sure what The Herald Editorial Board was thinking by supporting John McCoy as our 38th District representative. John McCoy is not looking out for the best interests of the citizens he was elected to represent. He is looking out for the interests of the businesses he runs as general manager of Quil Ceda Village (you know, those minimum wage jobs he helped create at Wal-Mart and Home Depot, not to mention the millions of tax-free dollars pocketed by the two Tulalip casinos).
Did you know approximately 10,000 of McCoy’s constituents who happen to live within what were the historical boundaries of the Tulalip Reservation had their addresses changed from Marysville to Tulalip without their knowledge? And that more than 70 percent of those affected are private property owners and have no affiliation with the Tulalip Tribes? Is underhandedly sneaking a town name-change past the citizens you’re supposed to be representing what our elected officials are supposed to be doing?
If you’re smart, you’ll ask yourself what else McCoy is trying to sneak past the voters of Washington state. I’ll be voting for Kim Halvorson.
