In the Spokane debate, Mike McGavick was up to his usual tricks, twisting the facts, and having his integrity challenged – again.
After his brain drain “confession” about his DUI problems, which turned out to be half truths upon further examination, now we have McGavick saying “The senator (Cantwell) may have wished she hadn’t voted to give illegal workers rewards … but she did. I can’t imagine a more wrong-minded idea.”
The true facts are, regarding immigration reform, that Cantwell backed the Senate’s comprehensive law to increase funding for border security measures, create a guest worker program and provide a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants already here. The House never considered it.
A Pennsylvania group’s study showed that the McGavick allegation is untrue and this charge is part of a Republican Party strategy to inflame emotions against immigrants.
Cantwell said, “We are a better nation than to try to fear monger in an election year.”
McGavick for Senator? I can’t imagine a more wrong-minded idea.
