Snohomish County officials want voters to increase the sales tax in order to pay “law and justice” to deal with the current heroin epidemic. This problem appears to be a medical/mental health issue — yet giving law enforcement and the judicial system the majority of the funding is throwing money away as they attempt to solve the problem by primarily treating the symptoms.
It’s been reported the current heroin epidemic has been in large part created by the medical industry, including the legal drug cartels, hospitals and prescribing doctors. If politicians want to pay for this heroin epidemic then go get the money from the people who caused it or profited from it.
Apparently politicians feel it’s easier or more convenient to fleece the public by raising taxes and revenues than by doing the hard work and going after those responsible. Treating the symptoms of a problem looks good at first but it’s ultimately dishonest and significantly wasteful.
And politicians ponder why we the people hold them in such declining regard.
