I hope Dave Somers reads this publication. I about wanted to puke when I read Thursday’s newspaper. His comment in the article about “Workers sacrifice under furlough” shows his true colors. He said, “I would have hoped to do the furloughs too, if there was a way to do it.” Sadly, because the voters removed the ability for council members to determine salary for themselves, they are exempt from any furloughs.
Well, dear Mr. Somers, since public service is your calling and we (the voters) have made it impossible for you to take the furlough, I may have a solution that could very possibly make everyone happy. You could just march yourself down to the local food bank and donate what would be the equivalent to a furlough (approximately $4,300). Are there any laws that would prevent you from doing that?
