President Bush’s plan to shift Asian and European troops homeward is dangerous, especially since North Korea and China have nuclear capabilities. A politically motivated move such as this could be detrimental to the U.S. and our allies. Can you imagine South Korea without our troops to support them? Why did we even fight the Korean War is we want to lessen our military support to them?
What about China? Don’t we need troops watching them? Is it the current administration’s belief that since we have borrowed money from Communist China that now we can trust them? Has he forgotten about April 4, 2001, when China downed our U.S. Navy EP3E Aries II electronic surveillance airplane and held its crew members? If something were to erupt in Europe or Asia, how long would it take to get troops there?
Homeward shift of our troops just to pick up some military votes is dangerous and a major breech in security. It seems like this administration is just grabbing at every straw to try to get votes for the November election even if it risks our security.
