Hooray to The Herald and Alexis Bacharach for bringing to light the most forthright and honest reporting on the Mill Creek Senior Center issue with the City Council meeting on Sept. 9. (Monday article, “Mill Creek seniors ask city to help fund new center.”)
As a five-year volunteer for Bill Durham, manager of the senior program, I was appalled to find out Mill Creek will be having a 25-year celebration Sept. 28. Can anyone imagine a town supposedly so progressive and growing so rapidly being so backward to not have a home-based Senior Center?
I live by Archbishop Murphy High School — outside the Mill Creek city limits — but felt I could so something to help out the struggling senior program of Mill Creek. I am so proud of our seniors, and the Senior Foundation board, for continuing their perseverance to achieve a community facility for the Mill Creek seniors and also the participants in the greater surrounding communities. And thank you, Mary Kay Voss, for realizing the importance of this ongoing project.
