Miraculous survival due to strangers

On Friday, Sept. 7, we got to load our boat onto our new boat trailer. We went to Lake Goodwin. We had never tried fishing there.

The new trailer launched the boat without a hitch. My husband then had to take the truck and trailer up a big hill to park. When he came back, we headed out trolling, but stayed near the boat launch. We fished a while, then headed in. Just then a big boat jetted past us. The huge wake he left headed straight for us. We were swamped and our boat went over.

My husband was trapped at the end of the boat, tangled in the rope he had on the motor, a was being dragged under. I am handicapped and could not help him. My husband was drowning! A gentleman came by to be of assistance. I told him that my husband was drowning. The gentleman jumped off his boat to save my husband. He held my husband up until he could get untangled and regain his breath. He told us his name was Dave and he would not leave us, even his own boat was drifting away.

Fortunately, his neighbor, Bob, came by and rescued Dave’s boat and us. Bob got us to the dock, after I had three seizures, while Dave went to retrieve what he could of ours, including our boat. A woman on the dock helped me down to a rock and had her mother stay with me while she took my husband to get our truck. I did not get their names. No one would take any money for all they did for us.

Miraculously, we were saved – by total strangers. All we can say now is: Thank you all and God bless you!
