What a surprise it was to find my 6-foot tall stuffed Santa with my eight plastic candy canes missing from my front yard! Apparently some nocturnal Grinch took those holiday decorations thinking that these items had been left outside as a donation for some other person’s yard or to the Mr. or Ms. Humbug’s future yard sale.
This has reminded me that during this season we need to increase our neighborhood watch programs. Those of us willing to brighten up our neighborhood with holiday illuminations need to make sure our decorations are solidly attached to some unmovable object. Because of my experience I will keep an eye on my yard as well as the yards of my neighbors. If we neighbors continue to work together we might be able to catch those midnight Grinches and then we can all say, “Merry Christmas to all and to all good night.”
Thank you, Officer Mike Wright (no relation) of Mill Creek Police Department, for listening and for your concern for the citizens. A happy holiday to you all – and that greeting goes out to you, Mr. or Ms. Humbug, too!
