Is there ever a real question about how our state’s budget got to be in such a mess?
There is an 800-pound gorilla sitting in the middle of our state’s capital called a multi-billion-dollar deficit. But our wonderful legislators (both in the House of Representatives and the Senate) think it is more important to introduce bills that will squish the spider in the corner than address the gorilla. They are more worried about grocery stores giving you a free plastic bag to carry your groceries, or how to help low-income people spay or neuter their dogs, then dealing with the fact that people cannot afford to buy groceries or dog food because they have been laid off.
Everyone one of them sit on committees that deal with the various state agencies. Why are they not plowing through the workings of each and every agency to find the fat that is feeding the gorilla?
