Our roads are clogged, unemployment is low, house prices are skyrocketing, schools are jam packed, and a recent report suggests that we can expect a humongous earthquake. So, exactly why do we need a Snohomish County Economic Development Council (“EDC steps up efforts: Panel hopes to lure plum high-tech jobs,” Sept. 20)? All those new jobs, who is going to get them? Local people or California imports?
Exactly who will profit by this economic development – besides the real estate companies, that is? I think that Snohomish County needs an Economic Discouragement Council. Use the $4 million for the proposed job-luring campaign to fill chuck holes.
