Money raised will benefit community

Thanks to our wonderful neighbors for their support for the 23rd Annual AAUW Art Show sponsored by the Stanwood-Arlington Branch of American Association of University Women.

Our special thanks go to the accomplished artists who participated in the show. It is a privilege to exhibit works by some of the most talented artists in the region. We thank the patrons who attended the show and those who purchased art. Money raised by those sales will directly benefit our community through scholarships for deserving students and other community projects. We appreciate the businesses that displayed posters of the show and to Twin City Foods for providing reader board space. Maxime’s Global Cuisine and Camano Island Coffee Roasters deserve special recognition for their contributions and support. Critical to our success were the articles written by The Herald. Of course, we appreciate the use of St. Cecilia’s Hall for the duration of our event and thank staff members for their assistance.

Congratulations to Donna Watson and Sheila Pera, Best of Show Award winners in two- and three-dimensional artwork. Further kudos go to Honorable Mention award winners Dan Bergsma, Linda Demetre, Mark Dodge, Vicki Dodge, Betty Foster and Karla Matzke. Jurist for these awards was Susan Parke, curator of collections and exhibitions at the Museum of Northwest Art in LaConner. We thank Ms. Parke for the commendations and her involvement.

And last but not least, we recognize the members, spouses and volunteers whose efforts made the 23rd Annual AAUW Art Show a successful event. Their dedication and commitment produced an exceptional show.
