I’ve had the privilege of working with Mayor Geoffrey Thomas of Monroe for over two years as a community volunteer. Our first meeting was the result of an email I sent to the city council one evening in mid-June of 2015, upset at the amount of litter I saw downtown. Within minutes, I had a response from the mayor. His note thanked me for reaching out and expressed how much he appreciated my concern for our town.
Three weeks later, there was an announcement for a volunteer downtown cleanup event. It was there that I first met Mayor Thomas, picking up litter together with other volunteers. Since that time, with the mayor’s encouragement and vision, I have continued to volunteer in the downtown historic core.
Mayor Thomas keeps his word, listens to ideas, and is a champion for Monroe. This fine man is the reason I continue to participate in our town. It really comes down to trust and integrity. I know Mayor Geoffrey Thomas will do what he says he will do.
I support his re-election!
