According to Sherwood Sage in his Nov. 13 letter to the editor, Sid Schwab and news media don’t give evangelicals enough attention during political campaigns. The problem for media is that evangelicals vote in accord with mythological stories about imaginary beings such as angels, demons and a man with super powers. Worse, they vow blind allegiance to preachers’ interpretations of those stories rather than use the brains and curiosity innate in humans. That is, they fearfully or lazily choose believing over investigating and thinking for themselves outside their bible. So their opinions have very limited breadth and depth for media to examine.
I’m thankful most Americans have moved beyond evangelicals archaic foolishness about eternal damnation to aim at living the Golden Rule out of rationality. It’s allowed the popular vote to remove an amoral man from the presidency if not overcome pockets of those reelecting such as senators McConnell and Graham.
