Mind blowing! Twenty-seven paragraphs to tell of a person’s sorrowful plight, legal dilemmas, timely complications and just plain misfortune (“Single mom will be deported — without three daughters,” The Herald, March 7). The writers of the story clearly established a dramatic, heart-wrenching sob story capable of an award-winning film adaptation for the plight of immigration.
When there is nothing newsworthy to make a headline in a newspaper, it is so predictable for a liberal newspaper to rely on angle of a story to jar your readers into awareness. I know it works because the Go Fund Me account is growing. Heck, even I want to contribute!
In case it is not known, I did read the entire article and was perplexed how so much more writing could be done when the entire story was capsulized in the first sentence of the eighth paragraph. (She) arrived in the U.S. illegally in 2006.” (Emphasis mine.)
I wonder what her story would be if she arrived legally?
Probably not much to write about because she wouldn’t be deported!
