As a boater, I read with interest the Thursday article in The Herald, “Mile-long pipes will take a boat trip.” I was surprised by the lack of judgment and local knowledge displayed by those who scheduled the move of the first pipe for 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7.
Our local boating season will still be in full swing during early September. This will result in many boats returning to the Everett and Dagmars marinas on Sunday. Mixing a large number of pleasure boats with the pipe, the tugs and the escort boats will result in delays to all, and could even create a dangerous situation.
I believe that neither of the pipes should be moved during a weekend.
