On Oct. 28, my daughter’s Marysville Pilchuck girl’s soccer team played the first athletic event for the school since the shooting tragedy. Even though our girls suffered a 2-1 double-overtime loss to Arlington High School, the sportsmanship and compassion demonstrated by the Arlington girls was touching. Both teams came together before and after the game, held hands and shared a quite, private moment. There were posters in the stands with good wishes and a moment of silence before the game to honor those who were touched by the events at Marysville Pilchuck.
This was but one example of the outpouring of empathy from the surrounding communities for the Marysville students and families. I, for one, can’t express my gratitude for all the prayers and good wishes we have received. It has been amazing!
