Regarding Larry Simoneaux’s March 5 column, “I cheer when the creeps get what they’ve got coming”:
Excuse me if I’m not amused at the violent death of a mugger who tried to mug some senior citizens. The fact your columnist would laugh and gloat over someone, yes a petty criminal, being killed is a total mystery to me. Did the seniors have a right to defend themselves? Yes, of course. Should they be charged with a crime? Of course not. It is great news they weren’t hurt. But why would any human being be happy someone died a violent death?
The penalty for a mugging someone isn’t death by strangulation. Laughing and gloating over the violent death of another human doesn’t make the columnist cruel, just stupid.
The whole thing was sad, including the death of the criminal. He should have been caught, tried and convicted and sent to jail.
